The Interior Prospect workshop

SofA is pleased to announce that Stephen Tierney, organiser of the Now What Interior Prospect workshop (theinteriorprospect.blogspot.com) has agreed to come to SAUL to lead a one day workshop exploring the possibility of visualisation being used to express some of the core ideas of architecture and to uncover or suggest some of the future qualities of spaces.

The workshop will be free for SofA members (just E3 to join!), and as there are a limited number of places available, we would ask you to contact societyofarchitecture[at]gmail[dot]com as soon as possible to register your interest with us.

The Lives of Spaces and more...

The RIAI conference is coming to Limerick from November 1st - 3rd, and, as part of the programme of events, a number of travelling architecture exhibitions will be hosted in the city.

The first of these, The Lives of Spaces, was Ireland's entry in last year's Venice Biennale, and features the work of some of Ireland's most interesting practitioners, including SAUL staff Grainne Hassett and Simon Walker, as well as forthcoming SofA speakers TAKA. The exhibition consists of short video representations of the inhabitation of selected spaces, presented in fascinating custom-made 'armatures'. It will be based at the Limerick School of Art and Design on Clare Street from 30th October —20th November 2009, Monday to Friday, 10am – 5pm. Sofa plans to attend the opening of the exhibition, which will be held on Thursday October 29th at 7pm, and all members are welcome to join us! Further information on the Lives of Spaces can be found here: http://www.thelivesofspaces.com/

Other exhibitions winging their way to Limerick for the event include: Cavan Re-Imagined (by Dermot McCabe and Orla Murphy, who are speaking at SofA on Monday November 2nd), Westport Re-Imagined, the UCC and WIT charettes, and Everyday Architecture.
